Our purpose

A collective focus on the systems polluting our river.

Eyes on the Wye is a forum through which local communities have come together to monitor their part of the River Wye and call Welsh Water to account for sewage overflows. By focusing on the impact of individual overflows, we can understand the extent of the impact and campaign for investment in specific problems - and prevent sewage entering our environment.

Our objectives

What we’re working towards.

  1. A call to repair to the systems impacting our communities

We are urging Welsh Water to stop sewage overflows discharging into the Wye Valley - starting with the worst pipe at Bigsweir.

  2. Wider testing

We are helping with the set up of community testing teams to sample the water from overflow pipes, to understand and evidence the impact.

  3. Increased reporting

We want to work with communities to help report and track sewage overflow discharges.

  4. Research for solutions

We want to explore other local solutions to reduce the impact that sewage overflow discharges have on our environment.
